Nepali momo is a traditional Nepali cuisine that is famous and much loved all across Nepal. With this easy recipe (Nepali chicken momo recipe), you will learn how to make Nepali chicken momo and also how to create these tasty dumplings beautifully. It is best served with jhol sauce (achar) which you can learn for an easy recipe on how to make in this separate video.

Ingredients:

Ground Chicken – 2 pounds
Chopped Onion – 1 cup
Chopped Cabbage – 1 cup
Chopped Spring Onion – 1 cup
Chopped Cilantro – 1 cup
Minced Ginger – 1 tbsp
Minced Garlic – 1 tbsp
Momo Masala – 3 tbsp (any Indian/Nepali Stores carry them)
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil – 3 tbsp
Fenugreek Seed – 1 tsp (optional)
Wanton Wrap (Gyoza Wrapper) – 2 packets (make 120 momos)

Tips: Once wrapped, the momos can be stored in the freezer for up to a month. All you need to do is steam for 20 mins and serve hot.

Steps:


1. Finely chop all the veggies and combine with ground chicken. Add all spices.

2.  On a small pan, add oil and heat on medium flame. Add fenugreek seed and once it starts to burn. Use the oil temper on the chicken mixture but filter the seed out. (DO NOT ADD FENUGREEK SEED)

3. Mix all the ingredients and set them aside.

4. In the meanwhile, boil water on a momo steamer. Spray oil on stemming layer pots.

5. Spoon 1 teaspoon of chicken mixture onto the wonton wrap. Brush the edges with water and make dumplings. Repeat with the remaining wonton and fill the pot layer.

6. Once the water starts boiling, place pot layers and cook for 15-20 minutes.

7. Enjoy momos with spicy tomato sauce.
