This easy yet yummy and delicious malpua recipe (Nepali style) is something anyone can follow and make malpua at your own home. When it was time for the festivals (Tihar/Diwali, Holi, Dashain, Mothers Day, Fathers Day); my mom always used to make this delicious malpua dessert. Nepali malpua is a dessert/snack/breakfast that everyone loves and reminds me of my childhood. These can be enjoyed with a cup of tea or a favorite drink of your choice. Even better with chana and achar. These malpua are soft and fluffy in the middle while crisp on the edges. Take my words, these malpua with this recipe will taste amazing in every bite that you take.
Ingredients:
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup semolina
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup dry coconut
1/4 cup raisin
1/2 tsp black sesame seeds
1 tsp aniseed (souf)
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1.5 cup warm water
canola oil for deep frying
Steps:
1. Prepare the batter with all the ingredients.
2. Set it aside for 30 mins covered in room temperature.
3. Fry the malpua at medium heat for 4-5 mins on each side or until golden brown and crisp edges.
4. Serve with tea for breakfast or bean soup and pickle on the side.
