Simple Chili Chicken Stir Fry Recipe with Bell Peppers

This finger-licking spicy stir-fried chicken chili is one of my best party foods that you can also learn how to make from this simple chili chicken stir fry recipe. The addition of bell peppers makes the dish colorful and aromatic. I am sure you will like it too. Try this restaurant-style chili chicken at your home with easy steps that anyone can follow that you will not regret.

Ingredients:

For marinating:

1.5 lb boneless chicken
1.5 tsp cumin powder
1.5 tsp coriander powder
1.5 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp peppercorn powder
1 tsp ginger powder
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp corn starch (optional)
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
salt to taste
1/2 lime
2 tbsp water

For the special sauce:

2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp hot sauce
2 tbsp ketchup

For deep fry:

1.5 cup vegetable oil

For stir-fry:

2 tbsp oil
3 garlic, chopped
1/2 inch ginger, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 medium green pepper, chopped
1/2 medium red pepper, chopped
3 small green chili, chopped
1/4 cup green onion, chopped
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
1/2 lemon

Special sauce:
2 tbsp water
Fried chicken

Steps:
  1. Marinate the chicken with all the ingredients listed. Add some water. Set it aside for 30 minutes.
  2. To prepare the sauce, in a small bowl, add soy sauce, hot sauce, ketchup and mix it well. Keep it aside.
  3. To fry the chicken, heat oil in a wok over medium flame. Add chicken in batches. Do not over crowd. Fry for 8-10 minutes stirring occasionally on medium heat. Repeat for the remaining chicken.
  4. Transfer to a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  5. On the same wok, remove excess oil. Add chopped ginger garlic and fry for 1-2 minutes. 
  6. Add chopped onion, green and red bell peppers, green chili. Fry for couple of minutes.
  7. Add chicken, sauce and little bit of water. Fry for couple of minutes to combine everything well.
  8. Garnish with green onion, cilantro and lemon juice. 
  9. Spicy chicken chili is ready to serve.
